The GT500 model was equipped with a ducktail rear spoiler, fender extensions, air scoops on the sail and quarter panels, and a fiberglass ventilated hood with a ram-air scoop. This example was finished from the factory in Wimbledon White (#1619-A) and is said to have been repainted as part of a refurbishment completed in 2004. Further exterior details include blue center and rocker stripes, amber fog lights, twist hood locks, a rear quarter panel-mounted antenna, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance. Chips and cracks in the finish are pictured up close in the gallery below.
Silver 17″ ten-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with 275/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and suspension modifications include aftermarket shocks, CalTracs traction bars, and Global West upper control arms and strut rods. Braking is handled by Wilwood calipers over slotted and cross-drilled discs up front and drums out back. Service performed in April 2018 involved installing a Wilwood brake primary cylinder and replacement rear wheel cylinders.
The cabin houses front bucket seats and a folding rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with textured inserts accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard and carpets. The Interior Décor Group was optioned, which added woodgrain trim, a roof console with dual map lights, an electric clock, and bright-metal trim on the foot pedals. Additional appointments include the Visibility Group, a Shelby-specific roll bar, an American Powertrain shifter, three-point front seatbelts, and a center console. The push-button AM radio does not work, and the seller recommends aligning the passenger door.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits on an Ididit tilt column and fronts a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The fuel gauge does not work, and a fuel cut-off switch has been installed beneath the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership. The Colorado title lists an odometer reading of 0 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 482ci V8 features a Pond Engineering aluminum block and was purchased as a crate engine modified by Craft Performance Engines. It was installed in March 2017 by Lou’s Cars of Littleton, Colorado, and is equipped with the following components:
A March 2017 dynamometer test registered 612 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, and the report is pictured in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TKO600 five-speed manual transmission and a Ford Performance 31-spline limited-slip differential that were installed under current ownership. A Mcleod flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate were also fitted along with Magnaflow mufflers.
Removed drivetrain components accompanying the sale include a Ford FE 427 medium-rise side-oiler V8, dual Holley carburetors, and a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission.
A set of four American Racing wheels as well as various spare parts are also included in the sale.
Photos documenting various stages of the refurbishment can be seen in the gallery below.
