The truck is said to have left the factory equipped with a platform bed, and a replacement cab and Styleside bed were sourced from a two-wheel-drive pickup of the same model year. The front fenders were also replaced, holes were patched, and dents were repaired before a repaint in blue. The front brush guard, grille, and bumpers were refinished in white, and additional details include tow mirrors and Montana-themed rear mud flaps. White 16” steel wheels are mounted with 255/85 BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires. A Steerman Cycle electric power steering kit has been fitted along with WARN Lock-O-Matic front hubs. Additional components replaced during the refurbishment are said to include:
The cab features a bench seat trimmed in blue vinyl with a body-color instrument panel and door panel inserts. The dash pad, window cranks, and transfer case boot were replaced under current ownership. Additional appointments include lap belts, a storage shelf behind the seat, black rubber floor mats, and a removable wastebasket straddling the transmission tunnel. The seller notes a tear in the seat cushion, and the push-button AM radio powers on but does not pick up a signal. Wear on the interior surfaces can be viewed in the gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a sweeping 100-mph speedometer surrounded by auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, approximately 600 of which have been added under current ownership. The speedometer cable was replaced during the build, and true mileage is unknown.
According to the seller, the replacement 360ci V8 was sourced from the two-wheel-drive donor truck and rebuilt with the following replacement parts and components:
Further work performed during the rebuild reportedly included sleeving one cylinder, polishing the crankshaft, replacing one exhaust valve, resurfacing the flywheel, and turning the ring gear. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through an NP435 four-speed manual gearbox and a Dana 24 dual-range transfer case, the former of which is said to have been removed from the two-wheel-drive donor truck. The exhaust system was replaced under current ownership and exits behind the right rear wheel. The seller notes areas of missing primer on the underside, additional photos of which are provided in the gallery.
The Deluxe Marti report lists factory equipment, colors, and production statistics for serial number F26YRE74991 along with a build date of January 28, 1969.
During the refurbishment, the seller utilized the cab, bed, engine, and gearbox from the two-wheel-drive 1969 Ford F-250 shown above. Additional photos of both trucks taken prior to the build are presented in the gallery.
