Finished from the factory in Dark Moss Green (#2039-A), the car is said to have been repainted red before being refinished in its current shade of green with white rocker panel stripes as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Early production examples for the model year featured a one-piece grille, inboard high-beam lights, upper side scoop marker lights, functional lower brake scoops, and polished rear valance trim. Further exterior details include a vented fiberglass hood and nose extension, a fiberglass trunk lid with a ducktail spoiler, hood pins, a left mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. Various chips are noted in the paint, close-up photos of which are presented in the gallery below.
Optional 15″ Magstar wheels wear Shelby Cobra center caps and are mounted with E70-15 Goodyear Speedway white-letter tires, while a full-size spare is stored in the trunk compartment. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The right-rear wheel is missing its center cap.
The cabin houses front bucket seats and a folding rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with a color-coordinated dashboard and carpets. The Interior Décor Group is equipped, which added brushed aluminum trim, an electric clock, and bright-metal trim on the foot pedals. Additional appointments include the Courtesy Light Group, a Shelby-specific roll bar, three-point front seatbelts, a heater, and a push-button AM radio. A Carroll Shelby signature adorns the glovebox.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel wears a Shelby horn button and fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and water temperature. Stewart Warner gauges indicating oil pressure and amperage are mounted beneath the radio. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles, approximately 40 of which were added by the seller.
The 289ci HiPo V8 features the Extra Cooling Package and a four-barrel carburetor as well as a Cobra-branded air cleaner assembly and finned valve covers. Factory rated output was 306 horsepower and 329 lb-ft of torque. The battery was replaced in December 2021, and an oil change was completed in March 2023. The engine, transmission, and differential stampings are viewable in the photo gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.89:1 differential. Corrosion is visible on various suspension and brake components, and holes are noted in the mufflers. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery below.
