Finished from the factory in Chamonix (085), the body was dry ice-blasted during the refurbishment, and subsequent work included cutting out and replacing the inner and outer rear wheel arches, performing rust repair on the rocker panels, and replacing the hood, front fenders, rear floors, tailgate, and chrome bumpers. A replacement non-tii nose was installed and the “snorkel” deleted, and a repaint in white was carried out. Exterior features include pop-out rear side windows, chrome side mirrors, and a telescoping Hirschmann “ruby” antenna affixed to the A-pillar. Various blemishes on the windshield are noted by the seller.
The 13” Campagnolo magnesium wheels have been refinished and mounted with 185/70 Nexen Nblue Eco tires. A full-size spare is found in the rear storage area. Braking is through front discs with rear drums, and the car rides on Bilstein B6 shocks and Eibach springs. Work during the refurbishment included rebuilding the brake calipers, replacing the wheel hubs, and powder coating the suspension components.
The cabin was refreshed with replacement front seats trimmed in blue vinyl and period-style fabric along with matching rear seats and replacement door panels. Coco mats line the salt-and-pepper loop carpets, and amenities include a MotoMeter analog clock, a Blaupunkt push-button AM/FM radio, and three-point belts for all occupants. The car was fitted with an air conditioning system that utilizes a Sanden compressor.
A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a black dashboard housing VDO instrumentation that includes a 220-km/h speedometer, a tachometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 55k kilometers (~34k miles), around 2k of which were added following the refurbishment by the previous owner, and 200 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.0-liter inline-four features Kugelfischer fuel injection and was rebuilt during the refurbishment. Work at that time included replacing the cylinder head, grinding and polishing the crankshaft, planing the block, honing the cylinders, installing an electronic ignition system and larger pistons, replacing the radiator, and overhauling the alternator and fuel tank. A website containing photos and articles documenting the refurbishment can be found here.
